Dennis Fedewa was named chief deputy director of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources in June 2004. He previously served as chief of the Financial and Business Services Division in the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality from October 1995 until appointed to his current position.  Fedewa earned his bachelor's degree in political science and public administration from Michigan State University in 1976 and received a master's degree in public administration from Western Michigan University in 1989.  He also participated in an Education Policy Fellowship Program, sponsored by the Institute for Educational Leadership in 1988, and attended DNR National Resources Leadership Institute, a one-year program focusing on leadership in public policy, in 1995.  Prior to joining the Department of Environmental Quality, he served for eight years as a senior fiscal analyst for the Michigan House Fiscal Agency where he had primary responsibility for the DNR budget, including the Environmental Protection Bond and Recreation Bond appropriations, the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund appropriations and other capital outlay appropriations.  From 1979 to 1987 he also worked as a legislative staff administrator assigned tot he Michigan House of Representatives Education Committee and the Corporation and Finance Committee.
