• Kalamazoo's unique Air Zoo hosts MDOT's popular teacher workshop
March 26, 2008 - - Come fly the skies! Kalamazoo's Air Zoo, along with the Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) Aeronautics Bureau, will host the state's 15th Annual Aviation/Aerospace Teacher Workshop called "The Sky's the Limit," on Saturday, May 17.

• Airport directories and charts now available from MDOT
March 18, 2008 - - The 2008 Michigan Airport Directory and the 2008 Michigan Aeronautical Chart are now available from the Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) Aeronautics Bureau.

• Granholm Signs Bill Creating Task Force to Develop Recommendations on Transportation Needs, Funding
Governor Granholm signed into law legislation that establishes a task force and a citizens advisory committee to make recommendations on alternatives for funding transportation in Michigan

• Bishop International Airport receives $4 million grant that will create 200 new jobs for area residents
July 26, 2006 - - The Michigan Aeronautics Commission (MAC) today awarded Bishop International Airport $4 million to begin development of an intermodal freight hub. The project, when completed, is expected to improve safety conditions, increase commercial air traffic at the airport and create up to 200 new jobs in the Flint area.

• Aeronautics Commissioner to compete in transcontinental air race
June 15, 2006 - - Michigan Aeronautics Commissioner Joyce Woods of Linden is participating in the annual Air Race Classic (ARC). The race begins June 20, 2006, at Falcon Field, in Mesa, Ariz., and finishes at Twin County Airport, in Menominee, Mich., on June 23.

• Governor signs bill to increase safety and security at seven Michigan airports
May 17, 2006 -- Aviation safety and security were enhanced today when Governor Jennifer M. Granholm signed legislation to allow the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) to maximize the use of state and federal money, along with $36 million in new bond proceeds, for airport safety and protection projects at Michigan public-use airports.

May 4, 2006 - -The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will once again sponsor its popular "The Sky's the Limit" workshop for teachers.

February 10, 2005--Announcement of safety funding presentations to W.K. Kellogg Airport and Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport.

• State Aeronautics Commission approves more than $8 million for airport improvements statewide
May 27, 2004 - - On Wednesday, May 26, the Michigan Aeronautics Commission approved more than $8 million in grants to improve the state's system of public-use airports. Runway restoration and extension, the design of future projects, and animal control fencing are among the many projects that will now be possible at various airports across the state.

• State Aeronautics Commission elects Chairman and Vice Chairman
OCTOBER 23, 2003 -- The State Aeronautics Commission recently filled the positions of Commission Chair and Vice Chairman at their regular September meeting. Sidney Adams and Dean Greenblatt were elected Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively, by their peers.

September 22, 2003 -- The Michigan Aeronautics Commission has approved more than $28 million in grants to improve the state's system of public-use airports. The purchase of security enhancements, runway restoration projects and snow removal equipment will now be possible at various airports across the state.

• State agencies will fund pilot van shuttle service for Metro Airport employees
October 31, 2002 -The Michigan Department of Transportation and the Wayne County Family Independence Agency will share the $256,000 cost of a pilot shuttle service for Detroit Metropolitan Airport employees who depend upon public transportation to get to their jobs.

September 18, 2002 - The Michigan Aeronautics Commission has approved $24 million in grants to improve the state's system of public-use airports.

• Aeronautics Commission clears $4.7 million for improved air travel
July 18, 2002--The Michigan Aeronautics Commission has approved $4.7 million in funding for improvements to the state's aviation system. The commission advanced 11 projects at 10 airports aimed at improving access to air travel and lifting the economy.
