Introduction Automated Weather Observation Systems (AWOS) and Automated Surface Observation Systems (ASOS) are installed at airports across the state. They provide weather observations 24 hours a day without human involvement. The systems report wind, ceiling, visibility, temperature, dew point, altimeter setting, and any recorded remarks. Those systems with "present weather" sensors also report certain precipation types.
State-owned AWOS systems are installed and maintained by the Bureau of Aeronautics in cooperation with each airport. For additional information, please contact Steve Schultz at 517-335-9627.
Please select a location from the list below for details about each AWOS/ASOS site including frequency, telephone access, and a link to current and forecast weather.
