The Cabinet Planning Process
Phase 1: Initiative Gathering and Alignment Phase 2: Prioritization and Commitment Phase 3: Implementation and Ongoing Management Cabinet Planning Process Overview The cabinet action planning process is an iterative and collaborative undertaking. As depicted above, at the heart of Michigan's planning lies the core mission, vision, and values developed jointly between the Governor and the employees of the executive branch. The planning process is designed to keep the executive branch efforts aligned with current priorities on an ongoing basis.

Cabinet Planning Process Phase I - Initiative Gathering and AlignmentPhase I - Initiative Gathering and Alignment
This step gained the required oversight from the cabinet and executive office by naming a small planning workgroup. The steering committee and executive sponsor were selected during a cabinet retreat, with Ms. Teresa Takai named the cabinet executive sponsor for this effort.
Cabinet Planning Process Phase II - Prioritization and CommitmentPhase II - Prioritization and Committment
During this process the cabinet initiatives collected and defined in Phase 1 were reviewed, prioritized and finalized. What resulted was an initiative portfolio with two distinct priorities.
Cabinet Planning Process Phase III - Implementation and Ongoing ManagementPhase III - Implementation and Ongoing Mangement
The Cabinet Action Plan has progressed through the first two phases of the planning process and is currently in phase three. In phase three, the implementation phase, the following steps will be executed to maintain the Cabinet Action Plan.
