Guiding Principles

Protecting Privacy
The Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI) will not release any data that identify the names of individual students. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects personally identifiable information from public release. CEPI has established secured levels of access to the data to ensure security and confidentiality. Users will need to receive clearance before being allowed to access any data.

Seeking Accuracy and Maximizing Efficiency
Collecting and distributing accurate data is our most important objective. CEPI works with school administrators and data information personnel to minimize errors and maximize accuracy.

Eliminating Redundancy
We are committed to eliminating redundancies, ensuring accuracy and reducing data reporting burdens for Michigan school districts.

Objective Data
The reports we release are intended to help all interested parties make relevant assessments and conclusions and formulate potential solutions or improvements.
