"The DEQ's motto is "Protecting Michigan's Environment, Ensuring Michigan's Future." While that phrase guides us in our work, it would be meaningless without a highly trained staff committed to upholding the spirit behind it. Our staff is made up of individuals from all walks of life. Scientists, engineers, inspectors, and many others, all coming from different backgrounds. Some have lived in Michigan all their lives, while others chose to come here because of the quality of our environment that they now work to protect.
The one thing they all have in common, however, is their dedication to protecting our state's environment. This webpage will allow you to get to know members of our staff and learn the ways in which they uphold their commitment to Michigan both in and outside of the workplace.
Habitat for Humanity
DEQ staff spend their days working to protect the habitats of Michigan's natural resources. In their spare time, however, they also work toward improving the homes in their local communities. This past summer, DEQ employees volunteered to build houses with Habitat for Humanity during events organized in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Bay County and Lansing.
