The DEQ will celebrate Earth Day 2009 on Wednesday, April 22nd at Constitution Hall in Lansing, Michigan.
The DEQ celebrated Earth Day in 2008 on April 22 at Constitution Hall inLansing,Michigan, with more than 2,700 and attendees. The participants included school groups, children and staff of DEQ, MDA, and DIT in celebration of Bring Your Child to Work Day, families and friends of DEQ Earth Day poster contest winners, partnering organizations, and visitors from other state agencies. The event featured sixty-one displays and activities. The atrium was colorfully decorated with Earth balloons and 1,080 Earth Day posters created byMichiganstudents. During the event, DEQ handed out over 2,000 tree seedlings toMichiganyouth. In addition, DEQ collected 12,825 pounds of electronic waste, as well as 500 pounds of plastic bags to be recycled.
