Detroit Air Toxics Initiative (DATI)

The Detroit Air Toxics Initiative (DATI) is a "first of its kind" initiative to characterize air toxics exposure and health risks in the Detroit metropolitan area.   Funding for DATI was provided by a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Fiscal Year 2003 Community Assistance and Risk Reduction grant.  A Stakeholder Group consisting of representatives from environmental groups, community groups, government, industry, and universities assisted the AQD throughout this process.

The DATI was conducted in two phases:  a risk assessment phase and a risk reduction phase.  Work for both phases was completed in September 2006.  A detailed discussion of the risk assessment findings is provided in the risk assessment report.  Summaries of the complete risk assessment report are provided in the plain language summary and technical summary documents.
