Resources for Energy Grant and Demonstration Projects

  • Office of Building Technologies, State and Community Programs - The Office of Building Technology, State and Community Programs (BTS) is part of the Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. The BTS' mission is to provide technology leadership, promote energy efficiency, and stimulate collaborative activities to make U.S. buildings more efficient, comfortable, affordable and sustainable. The goal of this website is to provide our customers with information about advanced building technology systems and partnership opportunities that promote energy efficiency and pollution prevention.

  • Office of Industrial Technologies (OIT) - DOE –The OIT is part of the Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. OIT's mission is to create partnerships among industry, trade groups, government entities and other organizations to develop and deliver advanced energy efficiency, renewable energy, and pollution prevention technologies to industrial customers. The goal of this Information Locator is to provide customers with information on advanced technologies which can improve productivity, reduce raw material and energy use, and minimize the generation of wastes and pollutants.

  • Office of Transportation Technologies (OTT) - The OTT supports the development of critical transportation technologies that are often too risky for private industry to develop on their own. OTT works with industry researchers through our national laboratories, often in 50-50 funding partnerships, to speed up the transfer of technological advances in electric vehicles, alternative fuels and fuel additives, and energy-efficient gasoline and diesel engines.

  • National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Power Technologies Data Book  -  The mission of the NREL is to lead the national effort to support and develop clean, competitive, reliable power technologies for the 21st century.

  • EPA Energy PageThe EPA’s Energy Page contains information on the Energy Star Program, Clean Energy Website and Global Warming, as well as links to Smart Growth, Sustainable Development, Transportation Alternatives, and Best Management Practices.

  • Michigan Energy Office  - The Energy Office promotes energy efficiency and renewable energy resource development to Michigan's residents, businesses, and public institutions.  Program activities are designed to encourage the use of new technologies and alternative fuels in buildings, industrial processes, vehicles, and in power generation. Program objectives are advanced through a variety of services, including information dissemination, technical assistance, financial assistance, and demonstration projects.

  • Appropriate Technology Transfer for Rural Areas (ATTRA) is the national sustainable farming information center operated by the private nonprofit National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT). ATTRA provides technical assistance to farmers, Extension agents, market gardeners, agricultural researchers, and other agriculture professionals in all 50 states. Topics addressed by ATTRA can be categorized into three broad areas: (1) sustainable farming production practices; (2) alternative crop and livestock enterprises; and (3) innovative marketing. Technical assistance, publications, and resources are provided free of charge to appropriate users.

  • CADDET Renewable Energy - CADDET Renewable Energy is an International Energy Agency agreement for the exchange of information on commercial renewable energy projects and has been operating since 1993. CADDET stands for Centre for the Analysis and Dissemination of Demonstrated Energy Technologies. CADDET has one division devoted to renewable energy and another to energy efficiency.

  • Cow Power - U.S. EPA web site about manure-to-methane energy systems.

  • Great Lakes Regional Biomass Partnership - The Council of Great Lakes Governors administers this U.S. Department of Energy regional program, designed to encourage greater production and use of biomass for energy generation. Each State in the Great Lakes Region has a state-level biomass energy program that works in conjunction with this regional program. This includes the Michigan Biomass Energy Program, as well as Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

  • Rocky Mountain Institute - Rocky Mountain Institute is an entrepreneurial, nonprofit organization that fosters the efficient and restorative use of resources to create a more secure, prosperous, and life-sustaining world. RMI shows businesses, communities, individuals, and governments how to create more wealth and employment, protect and enhance natural and human capital, increase profit and competitive advantage, and enjoy many other benefits.

  • SectorStar is an environmental performance information resource, available online. One of the sectors that is outlined on the SectorStar Web site is Meat and Poultry Processing. SectorSTAR (short for Industry Sector-based Environmental Strategies, Tools And R esources) is a free service backed by the experience and technical expertise of the Global Environment & Technology Foundation in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Policy, Economics and Innovation.
