EAST TAWAS, Mich. - Residents of Alcona and Iosco counties seeking assistance from the Michigan Department of Human Services will be served by staff at 2145 E. Huron in East Tawas effective Jan. 7, 2009.

Clients may access the new location by calling (989) 362-0300. A toll-free number will also be made available.

DHS clients in Alcona County previously served at 205 N. State in Harrisville can obtain services in the new location. Clients also may elect to have their case moved to a location closer to their home or work at any of the surrounding DHS offices located in Alpena, Montmorency or Oscoda counties.

"We urge clients to contact us to discuss the best option for them," said Karin Hobbs, Iosco-Alcona county director. "We have several options to make the transition easier and make it convenient for clients to access services."

DHS staff will be available at the current Alcona office, 205 N. State in Harrisville, on Wednesdays for scheduled appointments and State Emergency Relief only.
