June 30, 2008 - Electrocutions are the second leading cause of fatalities in construction nationally. In Michigan (2003), they were the number one cause of construction fatalities. This program will explain and illustrate safety practices the electrical industry itself uses before performing work on energized overhead lines. The importance of recognizing and eliminating hazards will be emphasized to avoid the possibility of contact with energized lines.
The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) Consultation Education and Training (CET) Division offers seminars, courses and workshops statewide. These programs have a small fee and are open to general public attendance. The MIOSHA program is part of the Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Growth (DLEG).
