July 8, 2008 - Interamerican Zinc of Coldwater will receive the Ergonomic Innovation Award from the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) on Friday, July 11, 2008, 12 noon at 245 N. Fillmore Rd., in Coldwater. The MIOSHA program is part of the Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Growth (DLEG).
The MIOSHA Consultation, Education and Training (CET) Division recognizes the safety and health achievements of Michigan employers and employees through CET Awards, which are based on excellent safety and health performance. The Ergonomic Innovation Award is issued to employers for innovative ideas that have been implemented to reduce worker strain.
CET Division Director Connie O'Neill will present the award to Plant Manager Jeff Reynolds and the Safety and Health Committee, who will accept on behalf of all employees. Guests and all employees will attend the special ceremony and luncheon.
Interamerican Zinc employs 24 workers and utilizes a patented process to recycle zinc from galvanizing dross. The facility is owned by US Zinc/Votorantim Metais, a world-wide producer of zinc, nickel and steel with headquarters in Brazil.
