MPSC Approves Settlement Agreement Authorizing Michigan Movers Association to Increase Rates by 4.5 Percent

Contact:  Judy Palnau (517) 241-3323

December 12, 2006

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved a settlement agreement authorizing the Michigan Movers Association (MMA) to increase its rates by 4.5 percent to cover increased labor and non-labor expenses.

On Sept. 29, the MMA filed an application proposing a rate increase of 9 percent. The MPSC on November 13 issued an order suspending the proposed rate increase and scheduling a hearing to investigate whether the proposed rate increase would result in just and reasonable rates.

Following the hearing, the parties submitted a settlement agreement authorizing a 4.5 percent general rate increase, which the MPSC today approved.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.

Case No. T-1849
