State Forest Campgrounds

State Forest Rustic Campground fees:
State Forest Campgrounds remain open all year, but access is limited by snow. Fees to be paid and placed in fee pipes on the day of your arrival.

State Forest Campgrounds - (site specific rustic campsites):

  • $15 per night, per site

State Forest Campgrounds - (site specific semi-modern, ORV and equestrian campsites):

  • $20 per night, per site

State Forest Campgrounds - (group sites and trail camps):

  • $6 per person, per night

State Forest Cottages and Cabins State Forest Cabin fees:
All cabins and cottages are $65.00 per night.

Lime Island Cottages:

  • Cottages are available from Memorial Day weekend through mid-September. Reservations are recommended and are taken starting on January 1st for that year's camping opportunities. All payment of fees are required within two weeks of making a reservation request. For reservations call 906-635-5281 ext. 56317.

Little Presque Isle Cabins:

  • Cabins are available for use year-round. Reservations are recommended and are taken starting on November 1st for the following year's camping opportunities. All payment of fees are required within two weeks of making a reservation request. For reservations call 906-635-5281.

Undesignated/Dispersed Camping

Dispersed Camp Fee:
No charge

Dispersed camping is allowed on State Forest land, if the camp is one mile from a designated state forest campground and it has not been banned by Order of the Director. Campers must post a camp registration card at their campsite. Camp registration cards may be obtained at any DNR Operation Service Center or from the Forest, Mineral, and Fire Management Office in Lansing. (Note: dispersed camping is also allowed on a limited basis within State Game Areas. For more information call Wildlife Division).

State Park and Recreation Areas

These fees for state parks and recreation areas will go into effect for stays after January 1, 2008. State parks and recreation areas remain open year-round for day-use visitors,  Ten campgrounds are open for the winter months  During this time, prices are $16 a night for a semi-modern campsite and $10 a night for a rustic campsite.

Associated Camping Fees at State Park and Recreation Areas

  • Non-refundable reservation fee - $8
  • Local-sale/On-site registration fee - This fee has been cancelled. 
  • Site transfer fee - $5
  • Cancellation fee - $10

Full Hook-Up Campsite - $31--$33 per night
Full hook-up campsites feature direct sewer, water and electrical hook-ups with 20/30- or 50-amp service. Click on a campground below to find out more.

Premium Modern Campsite - $29-$28 per night
Premium campsites are in high demand typically because of site locations and feature 50-amp electric hookups, modern toilet buildings, showers, wheelchair-accessible sites and sanitation stations. In addition, some campgrounds have pull-through sites for larger vehicles. Click on a campground below to find out more.

Modern Campsite - $27-$16 per night

Modern campsites feature electric hookups (amps will vary), modern toilet buildings, showers, wheelchair-accessible sites and sanitation stations. In addition, some campgrounds have pull-through sites for larger vehicles. Click on a campground below to find out more.

Semi-Modern Campsite: There are two distinct options in this classification. The first offers electrical service but no modern toilet/shower buildings. Vault toilets are available on location and water is available from a hand pump. The second option provides modern toilet and shower buildings but no electrical hookups.

$18 per night -- Features 50-amp electrical service but no toilet/shower buildings

Fayette Historic State Park

$16 per night -- 30-amp electrical service OR modern toilet/shower buildings.

Rustic Campsite - $10-$14 per night

Vault toilets and hand pump water. No showers or flush toilets.

Equestrian Campground - $17 per night

Vault toilets, hand pumps and hitching posts for horses.
