Steps for Governmental Agencies Requesting Parcels

Steps for Requesting Class 2 and Class 3 Parcels

  1. Submit a Land Transaction Application specifying the parcel(s). Also, review the Land Exchanges and Sales Guide for further instructions and details on the process. 
  2. Specify the intended use of the requested parcel(s).
  3. Indicate whether the request is for a purchase, or an exchange.
  4. If an exchange, include the offered parcel(s) description.
  5. This form must be signed, dated, and postmarked by midnight of the last day the parcel is available.

Please Note:

  • Parcels will be available to Governmental Agencies for 30 days.
  • Public Use Deed requests will not be accepted for these parcels.

  • The accuracy of acreage, descriptions, or any other information provided is not guaranteed and is subject to correction.
  • The State of Michigan does not guarantee the usability of or access to the listed lands.  Lands may be subject to conditions, covenants or restrictions.
  • Quit Claim deeds will be issued conveying only such title as was received by the State.
  • Where applicable, access to landlocked parcels across adjacent State land is not implied and may be specifically withheld from the rights to be conveyed.
  • Where a property includes mineral rights, the conveyance shall restrict the Grantee from severing oil & gas rights from the surface rights at any time in the future. 
  • The purchaser accepts the premises in its present condition,  and releases the Natural Resources Commission and the Department of Natural Resources, its officers, employees and agents from all liability whatsoever arising from any condition of the premises whether now known or subsequently discovered, including but not limited to all claims based on environmental contamination of the premises.
