Big Bluestem (Andropogon gerardii)

Common Name: Big Bluestem
Latin Name: Andropogon gerardii
Habitat: Dunes, dry prairies, jack pine/oak forests

A native prairie grass. Less common, but much taller than the related little bluestern. Is also called "turkey foot" - so named for the terminal seed spikes that resemble the bird's foot.
