ACCEPTANCE OF MINERAL RIGHTS: The Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund appropriation acts prior to 1999 required that the mineral rights underlying lands acquired by local trust fund grant recipients be deeded to the state of Michigan. Beginning in 1999, grant recipients could provide mineral interest or a "non-participating 1/6 minimum royalty interest" in any minerals acquired.
