In the mid 19th century, a stagecoach ride from Detroit to Chicago was a long and arduous five-day trip. Discover Michigan's agricultural and travel heritage through Sylvester Walker's stagecoach stop at a historic crossroads.

The Historical Significance of the Crossroads Two roads played an important part in Michigan's early development. They crossed at Cambridge Junction, where Sylvester and Lucy Walker assisted travelers at their tavern.

• The Walker Wheels Base Ball Club No steroids, no gloves, no swearing . . . it's real baseball, played according to 1860s rules and conduct.

• Farmers Market The largest market of its kind in southeastern Michigan is right here at the historic crossroads.

• The Barn Exhibit at Walker Tavern Visit the barn at Walker Tavern to see exhibits about Sylvester Walker's farm. Find out about roads and travel during the 19th century. Have fun with activities on the kids' pages.
