| What's Legal to Drive in a State Park or Recreation Area? |

Most visitors to a state park or recreation
area may be unaware that all roads and
parking areas within the park are, in fact,
public highways governed by Michigan's Motor
Vehicle Code.
Any motor vehicle using these roads and
parking areas, which have been developed
solely for access, egress and parking, must
be registered by the Secretary of State and
must have a valid State Park Motor Vehicle
Permit.

harbor area. But, sometimes, they may not be
able to travel the distance or reservations
are full. We would like to introduce you to a
few of our hidden gems just waiting to be
discovered. Perhaps it will inspire you to go
exploring to find a new favorite or two.

| Access to Recreation Project Locations Announced |

Last fall, as part of its Access to
Recreation Initiative, the DNR Parks and
Recreation Division received 30 proposals
from state park and recreation areas across
the state and, using a special scoring
system, developed a "top tier" of
geographically dispersed projects that will
offer unique and creative outdoor recreation
opportunities for people of all abilities.
