Leadership Resources
sunI believe in the spirit of leadership and the power of the individual. A good leader should possess two qualities; An awareness of their own heart (or a sense of purpose) and a passion for the truth. Leaders combine vision and reality to see what is, in all of its beauty or ugliness, without embellishments or bias. They want to be better – more honest, loving, courageous, effectively compassionate, strong, AND they are able to be honest about themselves - about their goodness, but also their warts, neuroses and unintended ways of offending.

The First Gentleman works in 5 leadership domains:

  • As a pro bono consultant and trainer to executives in the Michigan State Government
  • As a featured speaker on the topics of integrity and leadership
  • As the author of Reading For Leading, a weekly e-mail on leadership
  • As spouse to the Governor and dad to 3 children
  • As a youth sports coach
