The Governor's Residence Foundation

The Governor's Residence Foundation is a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization. It was established in December 2002 to restore, repair, and refurbish the executive residence of the Governor of Michigan that is located in Lansing; and, to assist in the preservation and enhancement of the Governor's Summer Residence on Mackinac Island, a National Historic Landmark. Both Residences are state-owned properties.

The Dining Room features a Mahogany table that seats 14 and a tile floor that is accented by Pewabic tiles.

Among the Pewabic tiles are those commemorating the Inaugurations of Governor Granholm and former Governors Blanchard and Engler.

The Living Room features taupe walls, a Michigan walnut wood floor and a Grand Piano that was featured in the Residence during the Blanchard and Engler administrations.

The Women’s Powder Room has been transformed to a “Power Room” and features photographs of nominees and inductees from the Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame.

Originally added to the Residence in the 1970s, the Garden Room with its warm earth tones, rattan furniture and patio views is a favorite of guests.

The newly refurbished kitchen accommodates catering for large groups and features KitchenAid appliances and granite countertops.

Guests who stay overnight at the Governor’s Residence enjoy a simple yet serene room with a private bath.

The new private family quarters include a kitchenette, where the Governor's family can have breakfast, do homework and enjoy easy meals without disturbing activities in the Residence's public space.
