Contact:  Liz Boyd 517-335-6397

March 10, 2003

Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today made her first judicial appointment, naming Amy Krause Judge of the 54-A Lansing District Court.

“Amy is one of the hardest working people I’ve ever met,” Granholm said. “She is smart as a whip and deeply committed to fair, equal justice. Amy’s addition to the Lansing bench adds to the strength of the entire Michigan court system.”

Krause, age 40 of Lansing, most recently served in the Michigan Department of Attorney General where she has been an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Division. Prior to joining the Attorney General’s office, she served as First Assistant Prosecutor in the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office and as an assistant prosecutor in Livingston County.

In 2000, Krause was elected to the Ingham County Board of Commissioners. During her two-year term, she chaired the Law and Courts Committee.

Krause was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in May 1988. She received her law degree from the University of Notre Dame and holds a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from the University of Michigan.

Krause replaces Judge Beverly Nettles Nickerson who was elected to the 30th Circuit Court creating a vacancy in the 54-A District Court.
