Whereas, The National Contract Management Association is a non-profit organization formed in 1959 to foster the professional growth and educational advancement of its members; and,
Whereas, The National Contract Management Association's mission is to enable the workforce to grow professionally, assess individual and organizational competency against professional standards, establish values, develop best practices, and provide access to skilled individuals, enabling enterprises to improve their buyer-seller relationships; and,
Whereas, Contract managers are highly skilled professionals working in diverse environments, such as federal, state and local government, private and public business sectors, and academia; and,
Whereas, Contract managers, as a discipline, provides accountability in the contract process as well as the effective administration of contracts, which are vital to our nation's economy and security; and,
Whereas, The National Contract Management Association is made up of 140 chapters and more than 18,000 members dedicated to hard work and excellence; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of April 13, 2008, as Contract Management Week in Michigan.
