Whereas, Social workers have the right education and experience to guide individuals, families, and communities through complex issues and choices; and,
Whereas, Social workers connect individuals, families, and communities to available resources; and,
Whereas, Social workers are positive and compassionate professionals; and,
Whereas, Social workers stand up for others to make sure everyone has access to the same basic rights, protections, and opportunities; and,
Whereas, Social workers help people help themselves, whenever and wherever they need it the most; and therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim March 2005, as Professional Social Work Month in Michigan and encourage all citizens to join with the National Association of Social Workers-Michigan Chapter in celebrating and recognizing social workers and their commitment and dedication to individuals, families, and communities everywhere through legislative advocacy, service delivery, research, and education.
