Whereas, National Cancer Registrars Week is an annual observance honoring Cancer Registry professionals whose vision and core values are truly making a difference in the war on cancer; and,
Whereas, Cancer Registrars are healthcare professionals who participate in the war on cancer by being advocates for the nation’s cancer patient population; and,
Whereas, Cancer Registrars are the individuals who ensure the timely, accurate, and complete collection of quality cancer data, and this data is fundamental to the nation’s cancer prevention and treatment efforts; and,
Whereas, Cancer Registrars bridge the gap between cancer patients and the many researchers and health professionals who need access to quality cancer data in order to make a wide variety of public health decisions related to cancer research, diagnosis, and treatment; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of April 3, 2006, and National Cancer Registrars Week in Michigan.
