Whereas, The Detroit Chapter #183 of the National Association of Women in Construction has distinguished itself as the voice of women in construction in Detroit for the past 35 years; and,
Whereas, The work done by Detroit Chapter #183 has benefited Detroit and the state through community development and educational programs; and,
Whereas, Detroit Chapter #183 has increasingly promoted the employment and advancement of women in the construction industry; and,
Whereas, The construction community, represented by the National Association of Women in Construction, has been a driving force in fostering community development through renovation and beautification projects, promotion of skilled trades careers, and a positive vision of the future; and,
Whereas, Detroit Chapter #183 has sought to achieve successful results for Detroit and surrounding areas of the state through cooperative partnerships with other organizations; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of March 4, 2007, as Women in Construction Week in Michigan. I am proud to recognize Detroit Chapter #183 and its many dedicated volunteers for their steadfast work on behalf of and in support of women in construction.
