Human Values Week

Whereas, Human values include belief in the innate dignity of human life; respect and consideration for the other, the interconnection between humankind and the environment and thus the need to care for and preserve the earth, the importance of integrity and service, an attitude of non-violence, and the individual and collective quest for peace and happiness; and,

 

Whereas, The Art of Living Foundation is committed to fostering peace by helping individuals learn compassion, non-violence and love through various programs, especially those aimed at decreasing stress and increasing community service; and,

 

Whereas, In collaboration with the International Association for Human Values, the Arts of Living Foundation provides solutions to empower individuals to take responsibility for themselves and their communities and uplift human values in more than 140 countries around the world the 5 H Program (Health, Homes, Hygiene, Human Values, and Harmony in Diversity); and,

 

Whereas, The Art of Living Foundation is celebrating 25 years of service and has been active in Michigan since 1989; and now therefore be it,

 

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of March 25, 2007, as Human Values Week.
