Whereas, Homeownership strengthens families, stabilizes neighborhoods, builds communities, enhances self-sufficiency and promotes personal well-being; and,
Whereas, Homeownership fosters economic prosperity for families and communities; and,
Whereas, Local, state and federal government agencies, builders, lenders, realtors and nonprofit organizations are engaged in increasing homeownership opportunities for the people of Michigan; and,
Whereas, These individuals, agencies and organizations are committed to increasing the homeownership rate to all-time highs; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim June 2007, as Homeownership Month in Michigan, and I encourage all citizens to recognize and support the efforts of those who help provide the opportunity for others to live the American Dream of homeownership.
