Governor Granholm's Statement on Obama Administration Auto Plan

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today issued the following statement on the Obama administration's automotive plan:

"With today's announcement, the Obama administration has sent a strong signal that it is committed to a vibrant domestic auto industry.  Through the President's plan and announcement, we see that this administration knows that the work of the auto task force can bring about a new beginning for a great American industry; a 21st century auto industry that is creating new jobs, unleashing new prosperity, and manufacturing the fuel-efficient cars and trucks that will carry us toward an energy independent future.  Most importantly, the administration has outlined a plan to help all of the people and communities throughout the nation that have been impacted by the upheaval in this industry.  The state of Michigan will continue to work with the Obama administration and the industry to ensure that both are successful in this effort to create a vibrant domestic auto industry and to help those affected by their actions."
