Reconciliation Day

Whereas, Reconciliation Day invites us all to communicate and reconcile with our family, friends, bosses, co-workers, communities, churches, our government and the earth; and,

Whereas, This observance can also be used as a time to acknowledge the important people in our lives and to tell them just how important they are to us; and,

Whereas, Reconciliation Day encourages the people of the state of Michigan to take the steps toward reconciliation, no matter how small they may be. With reconciliation, we can bring others together again in friendship and settle disagreements; and,

Whereas, Beginning with individuals on a one-to-one basis and within our families and communities, we can begin to model for others how to create a journey that will begin to heal our world;

Now, Therefore, be it Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, governor of the state of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 4, 2009, Reconciliation Day in Michigan.  I encourage all residents of this state to tell each person just how important they are by taking the steps to reconciliation.
