Whereas, In the State of Michigan, thousands of our citizens have served
as members of the Armed Forces, and in doing so honored our nation with exemplary
dedication; and,
Whereas, It is important to recognize the sacrifices made by our state’s
veterans who are paralyzed; their stories of hardship and triumph provide life-affirming
lessons for us all; and,
Whereas, These veterans personify the highest ideals of service to country,
sacrifice of self and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity; and now
therefore be it
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of Michigan, do hereby
proclaim the week of April 13, 2003, as Paralyzed Veterans of America Awareness
Week within the great State of Michigan. I encourage the citizens of our great
lakes state to honor these paralyzed veterans by observing and/or attending
activities associated with Paralyzed Veterans of America Awareness Week and
reflect upon the sacrifices endured by these veterans of our state.
