Whereas, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), is a dynamic
national and statewide organization which encourages students to become active
in their family, career, and community; and,
Whereas, The mission of FCCLA is to promote personal growth and leadership
development through family and consumer science education; and,
Whereas, Students develop skills for life through creative and critical thinking,
character development, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and
vocational preparation; and,
Whereas, FCCLA promotes social and civic activities that assist their local
schools and communities; and,
Whereas, FCCLA has influenced the lives of more than 9 million students across
the United States, including Michigan; and,
Whereas, Annually, FCCLA designates a week of the year as National FCCLA Week
to promote this organization in schools and in the community as a valuable educational
benefit and leadership opportunity; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan,
do hereby proclaim the week of February 8, 2004, as FCCLA Week in Michigan and
I urge all interested students to participate in this unique experience.
