People with Disabilities

Michigan is following the national trend of a significant increase in the use of long term care services by the younger disabled population. These individuals represent almost 18 percent of the nursing home population and 7 percent of the home care population (July 2000). Michigan's long term care system will be challenged as current programs change or as new programs develop to meet their needs.
