Higher Education Commission Public Hearing in Marquette

September 7, 2004

The commission was established earlier this year by Governor Jennifer M. Granholm to find ways the state can double the number of students who obtain college degrees and other credentials over the next 10 years in order to attract knowledge-based businesses to Michigan.

"Michigan’s economic future is tied to our ability to raise the education and skill level of our workforce," said Lt. Governor Cherry. "We are anxious to hear from leaders and citizens across the state about how to meet this challenge."
