2008 ServiceNation Official BadgeServiceNation, A Campaign for National Service, is Up and Running in Michigan!
The ServiceNation campaign aims to lead the passage of dramatic new service legislation, creating opportunities for Americans to serve at every key life-stage as a strategy for addressing critical challenges in communities. The campaign will also look to create a Declaration of Service which will serve as a blueprint for creating a true nation of service. The campaign will launch with a ServiceNation Summit, Sept. 11-12 in New York City, bringing hundreds of influential leaders together to draft the Declaration and form ServiceNation's policy process. The campaign then picks up steam with a Day of Action on September 27th, which will call on you, your neighbors, friends, and family to join in this citizen movement and make it a success!

• AmeriCorps Funding Opportunity
The Michigan Community Service Commission and the Corporation for National and Community Service are pleased to announce the availability of federal funds to support new Michigan's AmeriCorps programs to start September 2009 for a 12-month program cycle.

• AmeriCorps Members Revitalized Benton Harbor Neighborhood
On Wednesday, June 11th and Thursday, June 12th more than 250 current Michigan's AmeriCorps members from all over the state focused on rejuvenating Benton Harbor's neighborhoods. As part of the 2008 Russ Mawby Signature Service Project, AmeriCorps members applied their service skills at Harbor Habitat for Humanity sites in the Crystal Estates neighborhood. Projects included landscaping, building sheds, constructing subfloors, and framing.
