Traverse City Dentist Loses License

Contact:  James McCurtis, Jr. (517) 241-2112
Agency: Community Health

March 12, 2008

The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has immediately suspended the dentistry license and the specialty certification to practice endodontics of Robert Dennis Klym, D.D.S., based on his felony conviction in the United States District Court, Western District of Michigan.

On April 17, 2007, Klym was convicted of one felony count of Attempt to Evade or Defeat Tax. As a result, Klym was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $129.510.00 and was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 12 months, followed by three years probation, with terms.

On February 22, 2008, MDCH issued an order summarily suspending Klym's license pursuant to the Public Health Code which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional upon the conviction of a felony. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Klym's dentistry license.
