Midland Chiropractor Summarily Suspended

Contact:  James McCurtis, Jr. (517) 241-2112
Agency: Community Health

April 10, 2008

The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has immediately suspended the chiropractic license of Frederick Lee Knochel, III, D.C., based on his felony conviction in the 42nd Judicial Circuit Court, Midland County, Michigan.

On Oct. 1, 2007, Knochel, 32, was convicted of three felony counts of insurance - fraudulent acts. As a result, Knochel was given a delay in sentencing for a year. In the event Knochel completes all court ordered probationary terms, the felony convictions will be reduced to misdemeanor convictions.

On March 31, 2008, MDCH issued an order summarily suspending Knochel's license pursuant to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional upon the conviction of a felony. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Knochel's chiropractic license.
