  • Major points that were stressed during a conference call with CDC today include:
    115 million doses of flu vaccine for this year;
    40 million doses were distributed by end of second week of October;
    75 million doses will be distributed by end of October;
    15 million more doses have been distributed than last year at this same time;
  • Method of distribution is proportionate, a phased process that starts late September and goes to December; manufacturers and distributors are working to get some vaccine to as many as possible.
    -Not a shortage
    -Not a delay
    -No tiering or priority groups this year
    -Vaccinate as soon as it arrives
    -Offer vaccine thru December, January, and throughout the flu season
