Educational Materials for Providers and Consumers


These educational materials are divided into categories that may be most appropriate; however, anyone may view and print all materials. These items are also available free of charge using the attached order form.

Traumatic Brain Injury and Public Services in Michigan

This free online training course is intended for public agency service providers - or anyone who serves people with brain injury. The curriculum consists of four modules requiring about 45 minutes each to complete:

  1. Significance of TBI and introductory information on how the brain works,
  2. Common physical, behavioral and cognitive impairments and interaction strategies, 
  3. Screening for a history of TBI, and
  4. Public services available for eligible persons with TBI.

The training is self-paced, and can be completed over the course of multiple sittings. In addition, the site provides an extensive resource list and a glossary of terms. Continuing education credits are available for nursing, social work, and public education professionals.

Access Guidelines to State Services for Persons with Traumatic Brain Injury 
This 40-page guide is designed to help providers know when and how to direct persons with TBI to other agencies and to ensure access and coordinator of services.

Traumatic Brain Injury Provider Training Manual
This 53-page training manual contains resource materials and hands-on tools to assist public service providers to better serve individuals with brain injuries and their families.
