The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has immediately suspended the chiropractic license of Geoffrey D. Ramseur, D.C. based on his felony conviction. Ramseur failed to report his conviction to MDCH as required by the Public Health Code.

On July 9, 2009, in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, Southern Division, Ramseur was convicted of one felony count of Conspiracy. The conviction was based on Ramseur knowingly engaging in a conspiracy to defraud Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan by billing for services that were not performed. Ramseur was sentenced to imprisonment for 20 months and ordered to pay $121,000 restitution.

On August 6, 2009, MDCH issued an order suspending Ramseur's license pursuant to the Public Health Code which provides for the mandatory suspension of a health professional upon the conviction of a felony, a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for a maximum of two years, or a controlled substance-related conviction. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Ramseur's license to practice as a chiropractor.
