To All Those Who Serve Victims of Crime:
The
Michigan Crime Victim Services Commission (CVSC)has partnered with the Michigan Department of Civil Rights (MDCR) and the Michigan Alliance Against Hate Crimes (MIAAHC) to offer a statewide series of trainings on cultural competence and hate crime. The Building Cultural Competence training will help victim service providers, prosecutors, law enforcement and allied professionals to work better with diverse populations. It is a four-hour participatory training to enhance understanding of five major cultural groups: African American, American Indian, Arab American, Asian American, and Latino American. The training is designed to assist participants to recognize, understand and control their personal biases, and interact more effectively with colleagues and customers across cultural boundaries.
