This Monday, June 25, 2007, beginning at 3:00PM, the Michigan Civil Rights Commission (MCRC) will host a general commission meeting and public forum on disability issues in the Regional Technology Center-MTEC on the campus of Mott Community College. The center is located in the Kildee-White Building at 1401 E. Court St., Flint, MI 48503.
The purpose of the forum is to allow residents an opportunity to address the Commission regarding disability related concerns. Invited speakers and topics include:
- Michigan State Senator John Gleason will talk about pending legislation regarding interpreters
- Michigan Circuit Court Judge Duncan Beagle will address issues regarding making courts and legal proceedings accessible to persons with disabilities
- Patrick D. Cannon, State Director of the Michigan Commission for the Blind is expected to discuss issues related to persons who are blind or have low vision
