Family, Community, and Career Leaders of America (FCCLA)

Contact:  Norma Tims

FCCLA is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Science education in Public schools through grade 12.

FCCLA is an optional co-curricular component of Family and Consumer Science Education that helps young men and women develop leadership skills and addresses important personal, family, work and societal issues. Participation in a FCCLA chapter offers students opportunities to develop life skills-- organization, planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal communication-needed both at home and in the workplace. Critical components of the mission of this organization are character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and a focus on preparing for the multiple adult roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader.

Students may participate at the local, state, and national level in activities and competitions. Chapter advisors are Family and Consumer Science Teachers. Teen Times, the official magazine of FCCLA, is published quarterly during the school year and distributed to affiliated members.
