April 21, 2008 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), and the state's Department of Information Technology (DIT) and Center for Geographic Information (CGI), have added a new feature to the MI Drive Web site. The site was revamped with an interactive map to help motorists visually locate lane closures and major construction projects on state highways (M, I, and U.S. routes) in addition to reading about them. It is now possible for motorists to personalize the site by saving their personal preference views. As before, the MI Drive site is a quick resource for finding current information about:

- lane closures,
- construction projects,
- traffic cameras in Detroit and Grand Rapids, and
- accident reports, roadway speeds and changeable message signs in Detroit

"Making the MI Drive site easy for the public to use and understand will continue to be a top priority for MDOT. We remain committed to keeping Michigan motorists safe, mobile, and informed," said State Transportation Director Kirk T. Steudle.

Lane closure information from MDOT is available online at www.michigan.gov/drive.
