I-75 Corridor Improvements, Wayne and Oakland counties
What We Are Doing
During 2008 and 2009, MDOT will invest approximately $288 million to make major infrastructure improvements to the I-75 corridor in the metro Detroit area. The Ambassador Bridge Gateway Project involves a total closure on a 1.5-mile section of I-75 from Rosa Parks Boulevard to Clark Street from February 2008 to December 2009. This project will improve safety and relieve congestion at the busiest international trade crossing in North America.
While MDOT will close this section of I-75 for 22 months, the rest of I-75 will remain open with lane restrictions, even as improvements are made to the 22.5 miles of pavement and 95 bridges along I-75 in Wayne and Oakland counties. MDOT is coordinating all of the work on I-75 to keep traffic moving while making improvements that will ensure safety and economic vitality in this important corridor. |
