Highway Development

Mission StatementWe will be a knowledge-based, service-oriented organization providing high quality transportation project development services in support of the department's strategic goals.

Administrative Support

Divisions

Development Services - Estimate right-of-way costs
- Appraise and acquire the property rights needed
- Manage condemnation process
- Manage and dispose of department owned property
- Liaison to local public agencies for Real Estate acquisition activities
- Transport Permits

Design • Prepare construction/reconstruction plans for bridges and related structures
• Provide engineering data regarding utilities, drainage, and roadside development
• Assure plans and proposals are prepared in conformance with FHWA, AASHTO, and MDOT standards
• Coordinate and implement automated engineering systems and standards
• Administer the federal and state aid programs for local agencies
• Acquire aerial mapping photography
• Accumulate survey data
