Crisis Assistance Program

You do not have to be a client of the Department of Human Services to apply for help through the State Emergency Relief program. This program is available year-round, subject to the availability of funds, to assist low-income households that have a heat or electric shut-off notice or a need for deliverable fuel.

Contact your local Department of Human Services office or call the Home Healting Hotline at 1-800-292-5650.

If you receive a Department of Human Services cash grant, you may vendor part of that grant towards heat and electric bills. Contact your Department of Human Services caseworker for information on the advantages of vendoring a cash grant.

See the Michigan Public Service Commission Consumer Alert below for more information about this program and other programs and services for income-eligible families throughout Michigan.
