Aging in Place--Battle Creek

The Michigan Commission on Services to the Aging approved recognition to Aging in Place--Battle Creek for completing an Elder-Friendly Community Assessment for Greater Battle Creek. Some of the strengths noted in the assessment by the Community for a Lifetime review panel included the following:
  • Strong focus on economic impact of an aging society.
  • Strong focus on needs and interest of the baby boomers.
  • Internet access and web-based information.
  • Connecting the "Cruising the Age Wave" event with the Cool Cities initiative.
  • Recognizing the need for a long range strategic plan (5-20 years).
