Telecommunications
The Michigan Public Service Commission's (MPSC) statutory responsibilities related to telecommunications services require that technical support be available to companies providing the services and customers using the services. In providing that support, the MPSC must recognize the policy to permit and encourage market competition to govern prices and services in markets where competition exists.

In accordance with Section 103 of the Michigan Telecommunications Act, the MPSC has released the annual report "Status of Telecommunications Competition in Michigan" for 2007. This report describes the status of competition in telecommunications service in Michigan, including, but not limited to, the toll and local exchange service markets in the state.

• Annual METRO Tax Credit Filing By Telecom Providers
Under Public Act 50 of 2002, section 13b(5), tax credits are afforded to telecommunication providers that invest in new broadband infrastructure. The MPSC must certify documentation that providers have paid the right-of-way fees to the METRO Authority per Section 8(14) of Public Act 48. Such providers must fill out the on line form which is now available.
