The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today granted licenses to Realgy Energy Services and Spark Energy Gas, LP as alternative gas suppliers (AGS).
The MPSC determined that the applications are in the public interest and that by granting these requests for a license, opportunities for competition may expand.
In Case No. U-15419, the Commission granted an AGS license to Realgy Energy Services, conditioned on its opening of a Michigan office, as required. The company, headquartered in West Hartford, Conn., applied for a license on Sept. 21, 2007.
In Case No. U-15429, the Commission granted a license to Spark Energy Gas, LP. The company, headquartered in Houston, has an office in Southfield, Mich. It applied for a license on Dec. 19, 2007.
The Commission conditioned the licenses on compliance with all applicable provisions of Public Act 634 of 2002 and the Commission's orders and administrative rules. In addition, the companies must provide service to customers within a reasonable time. Failure to comply with any of these provisions may result in revocation of the licenses or other penalties.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
